Rituals anchor life and ground them with a sense of connecting with oneself and the world. Interacting and mostly reacting with the agenda of the outside world can drain us of our precious energy and stall our momentum in creating a day of open-hearted joy and inner peace.
Since I've been traveling without a home base, my daily rituals have become even more important. I refer to them as rituals because this makes them feel more sacred than schedule, routine and habits, which feel more left-brained and business-like. Daily rituals are about loving ourselves and connecting with our Higher Selves and Inner Voice that is the nurturing gentle guide that reduces the noise and chaos and keeps us in the flow.
My morning rituals right now include:
- Black and yerba matte tea with warm hemp milk and cinnamon
- Fruit smoothie made with organic fruit and boosts such as hemp protein, flax oil, goji berries, macca, etc.
- Spiritual reading
- Prayer and meditation
- Journal writing
- Yoga or walking in nature (I alternate days)
This daily practice (I also love that word) evolved because I wanted my mornings to be my quiet, sacred time, free of work and the outside world. I'm extremely protective of this time and I've become good at putting boundaries up around it. If I don't allow myself this sacred time, my day just doesn't flow as well. I spend the day feeling off and disconnected with myself. Beyond that, it creates a constant in a lifestyle that has lots of change built into it. Once I'm finished with these rituals, I'm ready for the day!
