Inside the Akashic Records

For those who have never given or received an Akashic Records reading, it is difficult to imagine what it’s like being in the Records, especially because it’s invisible and outside of our day-to-day reality. This makes it magical, mysterious and also a little intimidating.

Even after doing a number of readings, I still find the exact nature of the Records difficult to put into words. However, because I want to bring clarity to those who want more information about the Records before they sign up for a reading, I’m going to do my best to describe the experience of being inside the Records.

To start us off, here’s a quote from Linda Howe, author of the book, How to Read the Akashic Records: Accessing the Archive of the Soul and Its Journey:

The Akashic Records are a dimension of consciousness that contains a vibrational record of every soul and its journey. The vibrational body of consciousness exists everywhere in its entirety and is completely available at all times and in all places. As such, the Records are an experiential body of knowledge that contains everything every soul has ever thought, said, and done over the course of its existence, as well as all its future possibilities.

That sounds pretty exciting doesn’t it? And it also sounds pretty abstract and obscure. The Records have been called “The Book of Life” , “God’s Book of Remembrance”, “the soul’s blueprint” but very few people who write about the Records talk about what it’s like to be in them.

I can only share what it’s like from my experience both reading my own Records and the Records of others.

  • First, being in the Records is peaceful. It’s like entering a quiet, restful healing sanctuary outside of the pressures of time and space—a place to just be without your story, your role or your social masks. It’s a magical place of wonder and innocence.

  • Second, being in the Records feels a bit like coming Home. In the same way certain nighttime dreams we have feel more real than our waking life, the Records can feel more real than the rest of our lives. Why? We are free to just be ourselves, to just listen and receive what is needed for our soul’s growth. It’s feels like visiting our soul’s true home.

  • Third, we are surrounded by unconditional love and support coming from our Masters, Teachers and Loved Ones that engage with us while we’re in the Records. This is the type of love, support and deep connection that we all long for in our daily lives.

  • Fourth, the information we receive is usually very specific to us, and often validates that we are in our Records. The knowledge and wisdom seems timely and resonant in that it addresses the very issues in which we’ve been needing guidance and direction.

  • Fifth, our innate gifts and talents are usually acknowledged and we’re encouraged to honor and express them. These are often gifts that we take for granted or have not felt empowered to fully share.

  • Sixth, there is the beautiful awareness that we are known, cared for, fully supported and loved even when we’re not in our Records. This alone, is one of the biggest gifts of the Records. Many of us feel so alone on our human journey. A reading helps us know that we have never been alone and are always supported and guided, and that all we need to do is to simply remember that and ask for help when we need it.

What I also love about the Akashic Records is that it is always and forever a place of healing. Some of the healing happens just from receiving information and guidance because the increased awareness about our life situations shifts our perspective and allows us to perceive them with new eyes. Most of the healing happens silently and comes from the high frequency vibration of the Records. It’s healing for the body, mind and emotions to be immersed in such a high frequency. It can also serve as a catalyst that brings to the surface specific areas of one’s life that need attention and healing.

Personally, working in the Akashic Records has shown me that in spite of all of the chaos happening in our world, the Universe is truly benevolent and will always help us and guide our lives as long as we are open and willing to receive that help.

Speaking of openness and receptivity, one of the most essential qualities to bring into the Records is a state of consciousness that includes trust of and surrender to what comes through. Some people are very resistant and closed when they enter into the Records. This resistance directly influences how much and what type of information and guidance will come through (often very little). At the very least, it’s important to be curious and interested in the process. Otherwise, receiving a reading will be of little benefit to you.

I hope this gives you a better sense of being inside the Akashic Records. If, after reading this, you’re feeling a nudge to get a reading, go here to learn more. Or you can check out my bog post, “Why an Akashic Reading is Like Talking with Yourself”.
